Made of burnished bronze, this ancient and strange device seems irrelevant on its own, without some manner of machine to turn it.
No apparent mechanical properties, but apparently highly magical.
Originally discovered at the bottom of a well in Maz Immura, the artifact, possibly dating back to the Nameless Time and its giant empires, was under study at the Belltower Collegium by Kajetan of House Jasper, where it remained for over two centuries, despite the numerous attempts made to steal the device.
In 338 F.I., however, the artifact was finally stolen by a mysterious band of dusk elves and carted away westward on their sunset ship. A party of adventurers, hired by Kajetan, pursues them across Eregia.
According to Ûbolya, Craftmistress of House Topaz, there are some twenty-seven such gears, scattered across the globe. She claims to have possession of one, which keeps her Stead in Cantilever afloat, while she maitains that her husband has squared away several others in various secure locations. Her own gear is considerably larger and appears to be crafted from silver, rather than bronze.
